Dinosuar compositions | Jungle Motto-print

Welcome back bloggers, for the past few weeks we had been working on something new in art class. We learnt new techniques and learnt the colour combinations.

The task that we've been focusing on is dinosaur compositions, which means we trace a picture on baking paper and print it out. After it is printed we coloured it in and mixed different colours to make it interesting. And the other task that we've learnt how to do is jungle motto print, which basically means putting colours on the roller and pasting it on the plastic sheet. Then use our dinosaur compositions to trace the thing we want. The colours that I used for my first try was black, pink and yellow. When I first tried it, it was ridiculous and didn't want it to turn out that way. But my second try was amazing because I could see some of the things that I traced.

Here are some pictures of my progress:

As you can see on this second try of jungle motto print some of the tracings I've done worked really well. You could see some plants and the dinosaur that I've traced on the dinosaur compositions.

During this past week, I loved what we did because it was something new and I've never had experienced it before. I learnt lots of things such as mixing colours and shading colours to different textures. This term art subject was really successful for me because I learnt new things that I didn't know about and we did fun art-related stuff.

Thank you so much for taking the time and reading my blogpost, hope to hear your feedbacks(:

Fun Run - Kids Can

Welcome back viewers, today I will be talking about what we did in the fun run and what it is for. And I will be talking about how I felt when I was there and what obstacles were there.

The fun started last week Friday (November 25th) and was located in our school field. The purpose of doing a fun run is to thank kids can for all the support they give us not just our school but other schools. We thank kids can for all their hard work and for providing our school, school jackets, fruit cups, shoes and other lots of useful things that our student needs. "We are so thankful that kids can are helping our school and the purpose of doing fun run is to celebrate Kids can. And the people who were involved in kids can be years seven to ten, which are juniors and seniors. And it's our turn to donate money for all the hard work they gave to us, plus if we fundraise ten plus more dollars we get prises.

There were huge amounts of obstacles around the school field and lots of them were so creative and fun to go through. Such as bouncy castles, colour spraying at you, waterslides you have to go through, hurdles, tires, cargo nets, sponges getting thrown at you, and heaps of water guns spraying at you.

Going through the fun run was actually enjoyable and I had lots of fun, ' I actually wanted to have like a go pro on top of my head so, I can show you guys what's it like to go through the fun run obstacles. I felt full of energy and had lots of excitement because I was running with my friends, which encourage me and all the other obstacles that I went through.

The obstacles that I enjoyed were the bouncy castle and the cargo net. The bouncy castle was mostly enjoyable because I raced my friend and was bouncing around. And then the cargo net was satisfying to go through because I felt like a soldier crawling. But the one thing that I did not enjoy was colour getting sprayed at me because of the smell and going in my mouth.

But anyways I had lots of fun and enjoyed the fun run. Thank you so many kids can for all the hard work you gave and all the sacrifice.

Here are some photos of me and other people who participated in the fun run:

The Value Of A Well-Written Thank-You Note

And I think that this is a nice way of celebrating and giving back things to Kids can. We are really so glad that we have Kids can who provide our school uniforms shoes and other stuff and to other schools around the world as well. And I hope they keep it up. It was also fun to participate because of all the colours and obstacles we went through.

Hope you enjoyed reading my fun run experience and hope to see some feedbacks(:

Help! Maui Can't Pull The Sun!

Welcome back readers,

In today's blog, I will be sharing with you what we have been doing in our reading hurumanu class. And our topic for the next two weeks in New Zealand Myths and legends. Today's topic is all about Maui pulling the sun. But you won't learn anything about how Maui pulled the sun, it's about me making an advertisement for someone Maui because doesn't got the strength anymore.

The activity I did was on canvas because it's always there and free. It's the best website to create any slideshows nor posters. The activity is pretty much straightforward, the task was just to make an advertisement for someone to pull the sun rather than Maui because he's tired.

Here is my poster: Just click on it to zoom in.

I think I did pretty well and made my poster with absolute creativity. The Canva website was pretty interesting to use and this activity was actually unique because of the advertisement I had to make. I hope our reading activities will be more fun and interesting.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog post. Hope you enjoyed my poster. Don't forget to leave a comment. Have a great awesome day(:

An Interesting Art Task (7/8 Art)

Welcome back viewers, In the past week in my art class, we have been focusing on Henri Rousseau's paintings and learning the 6 terms. The six terms are background, middle ground, foreground, foliage, print, repetition.

The task was to choose a picture and cut out the foreground, middle ground, and background. We labeled them, write where it is and what they meant. Secondly, we analyze where the print and foliage and where the repetitions were. The reason we did this was that Henri Rousseau was seemingly an excellent painter because of all the skills and interesting art he did.

The task was seriously interesting because we gain knowledge and learned new terms and examine where each and every part was. It was very fun doing this activity and would like to do more of it.

Here is my art piece:

Hope you enjoyed my blog post and thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. Make sure to leave feedback.

Labour weekend Wriitng

In our wananga session, we've been doing fun activities around writing and gaining more tips and tricks about writing. But for today I will show you what activity we've done and how it is related to writing because we will have our upcoming test (E-Astle Writing Test).

So the challenge was to explain our labor day with the word S.P.I.L.E.S. in each letter we had an example and they are related to the things that we were doing during the long weekend. For example, the word S is turned into social, so we have to write things about social activities.

The challenge was very different and interesting because it had a twist but had examples to give us backup information.

Here is my work:

Labour Weekend (S.P.I.L.E.S)

S - (Social Activity) In the labor weekend my family went camping and gathered with friends and families.

We had seven family members and haven’t met for a really long time. We gathered at pak n’ save first then traveled for fifty minutes to Ashley Gorge Holiday Park.

P - (Physical) As a family we proceed to go hiking uphill for two or more hours to see a waterfall.

We also played some of our Filipino’s childhood games such as Tumbang Preso (Fell Prisoner).

While we were hiking up, the terrain was extremely frightening and difficult because of all the rocks, roots of the trees, and the gravity pull we were having.

Another physical activity that I remembered was going to the river and going for a swim in the river where the current was tremendously powerful.

I - (Intellectual) Furthermore as a group of seven family members we helped each other and built our tent which was exceedingly tricky because we didn’t have any instructions.

In addition to this, I learned how we should clean our house first before going somewhere else because when we got home we were so tired but still had to clean the mess in the house.

L - (Likes) I truly enjoyed swimming in the river with very strong waves.

As well as sleeping in the tent and eating lots of food.

I also enjoyed gathering with my friends, having a laugh, and asking how they have been doing.

Another thing that I most appreciated was seeing the waterfall and getting some physical exercise by climbing uphill for two or more hours.

E - (Emotional) I was feeling happy because I got to meet my friends and go camping with them for two days.

And I felt satisfied when I swam in the river because it was cold when the weather was hot.

Moreover, I began to feel tired when we were hiking uphill and extremely exhausted when coming back home.

Another emotion that I felt annoyed because the waterfall wasn’t that high but the water was so fresh.

But at the end of the day, I felt fantastic because I actually think that I won a medal for climbing a mountain and seeing my friends which were worth it.

S - (Success) The success that I had was not losing my jandals when I saw in the river with a strong current.

Therefore I was also successful when I climbed, helped set up the tent, and climbed up the mountain.

Also, the successful thing that I did was drinking fresh water and doing some physical activities.

I think that that was a fantastic experience and would love to do it again.

Would you enjoy climbing up a mountain and camping?

I think this activity was cool and a fun way to explain our Labour Weekend experience. And I conceive that I did pretty well on my work and had lots of information. I really enjoyed doing this activity and love to do more of this, this will actually make me prepare for my writing test.

Hope you learned something from my blog and experience. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post. Make sure to leave feedback for my blog post(;

Chamois, Chamois, Chamois (Uncle Don)

Welcome back viewers, in today's blog I will be giving you information about an animal that I researched about and will be sharing with you a presentation that I made for them. And the animal that I learned and am talking about is called a Chamois.

These animals that I've been researching are from Uncle Don's book the one that says (Uncle Don knows heaps of wacky stuff).

For today's activity, we had to choose a topic that we wanted to research on pages 23 - 24. And I think this will be our last session about Uncle Don. And an interesting activity that was all required to us was doing the unscramble activity which had a cool twist.

I think that the activities that we have done are interesting and unique because of the other animals and topics that I learned and research. I hope we get more time of doing kind of this activity because of all the knowledge that I gain from them.

In addition to this, I created my presentation on canvas.

Here is my presentation:

I hope this was an interesting last session of Uncle Don, I hope you learnt a lot of stuff within my blog post that I've done about Uncle Don. I think that I learnt a lot of things and get to know the different types of animals. And on my presentation, I think I did amazing and have lots of facts and information about Chamois.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog, please don't forget to leave feedback(:

7/8 Art (Water Colouring Painting)

Today I will be sharing the watercolor work that I completed and the watercolor paintings that I haven't finished. I will be sharing the progress that I made during this art session. For all of the paintings I will show you I will be putting captions on how I made them.

Here are my paintings:

For this watercolouring painting, I tried drawing multiple flowers one braches and getting creative with it. This drawing is very basic and I think I did alright on painting the flower and drawing it. I didn't really use a technique here I just painted it and mix it with different colours. But sadly I didn't finish it.

For this flower, I didn't actually paint it because I didn't have much time and it was probably the most difficult one. But I just drew it with a sketching pencil.
This painting was very interesting to do because I learnt I lot of techniques, like adding salt to have texture. Wash technique (one stipe and dipping it into the water to make a lighter shade. Then the others were experimenting and mixing the colours. The last technique that I did was painting, soaking the paintbrush in the water, taking out all the water and just stroking it on the painting.
This painting was one of the paintings that I did because we used a palate and mixed different colours. And the technique that I did was scraping the paint to make a lighter shade.

This drawing is also not finished because I didn't paint it. But I think I did pretty well on this drawing, no technique is needed on this one.

I think that drawing and water colouring is pretty satisfying and all the technnique you use. It was fun doing this kind of topic, I wish to learn more techniques.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post please leave a comment(;

WHAT ARE HAAST EAGLE'S | why did they become extinct?

 Hello readers,

Welcome back to my blog. In today's blog post I will be sharing information about these species of vultures called Haast Eagle, and why did they extinct.

These species of eagle are my favourite animal but I mostly like the Philippines Eagle because it's the national bird. And they are so big and interesting. What is your favourite animal? What kind of birds do you like?

So this is another task from our hurumanu class which is about Uncle Don. And unfortunately, the Haast Eagles made me interested, so I picked carefully and researched them. And I used the apps called canva because it is the most creative and enjoyable app to use. But the bad thing is I can't download it to the blog because it's too small. (Please bare with me)

Here is the link to the sound of the bird since I can't upload it.

Haast Eagle Sound

Here is my work:

I think that this task is again very fun and enjoyable because I get to learn different stuff and species. I would love to do more of these. And I think this is a good way of learning other fauna and flora and such a good habit of presenting it.

Please don't forget to leave a comment(:

Uncle Don (crayfish)

Hi viewers,

Welcome back to my blog, In today's blog I will be sharing the species that I studied and research from Uncle Don's book. And this subject is our Hurumanu 1 session which stands for Nga Tagata (The people). And if you don't know what is Uncle Don's book you should read it because it has some cool facts about species and facts.

The species that I researched in Uncle Don's book is all about crayfish. And the pages that we had to read about are pages 12 - 16, I think those pages were all about water species. Then we had to create a DLO/presentation about the species that we chose.

For my research, I used canva again because is the best site where you do your presentation and make posters. And I think Canva is a better and creative way of presenting your presentation and doing your DLOs.

I think that I did pretty well on my presentation and made it look creative. And I would use canvas more often for any of my presentations because it's very efficient. But the thing that didn't go well for me is that canva when I upload to my blog it doesn't work, so I just have to screenshot it.

Anyways here is my presentation:

Hope you learned something cool and loved my presentation. Don't forget to leave a comment, see you next time(:

DRAMA

Kia Ora, bloggers,

Welcome back to my blog. In this blog post I will be sharing a reflection about drama and what I think about it. And I will be answering the three questions that are related to drama.

Reflection:
I think that drama was an alright session because I enjoyed some of the games and what we did, but loved how we studied drama. But one of the things that I dislike was people were very annoying and disrespecting the teacher. But overall I like drama and I will try and be more confident.
  1. What did you enjoyed about drama? I enjoyed playing the games that we played and studies about the different genre of drama. And I enjoyed watching the different topic of clips on drama.
  2. What I learned? I learnt about the different topics of drama and how actually the games effects your drama skills.
  3. What was challenging? It was challenging for me because I don't really like acting because it;'s too cringe for me whenever I do it with my friends, and a big group.
  4. What theatre style did you learn about? The different genres I learnt about in drama are comedy, tragedy, melodrama and musical theatre.
  5. What was your favourite drama game? My favourite drama game was wink murderer because we had to try not to show the winker who the murder is, that is why I love the game and it's related to drama.
Here is a link to a video of theatre:

This video genre of drama is called comedy and I like comedy with clowns because they're very funny and entertaining to watch.

Thank you for taking the time and reading my blog post. Make sure to leave a comment(:

What Is A Base?

A base is the opposite of an acid. Because the stronger acid turn into more colour and stronger base turns into more darker colours. They are a substance that gets together with acid.

The different types of acids and formulae:

Nitric Acid - HN03

Sulfuric Acid - H2S04

Hydrolic Acid - HCl

A base also has OH which is Hydroxide, which reacts together.

And when acids and a base react together they neutralise (cancel out).

Facts about bases:

  • Any of a water based subsequent are to be called acid base or neutral. And other Oils and non liquids are not acids or bases.
  • And when Acids and bases reacts with each other they produce salt and water, and change the temperature of the liquid to a neutral ph.
  • If you want to experiment and exactly know how to spot the difference of an acid and base, you have to wet litmus paper. And if you put them together acid litmus paper turns into red and bases change the litmus paper into blue.
  • Acids and bases contains electricity because they both have ions and when in water they turn into ions.
  • Acids and bases are very important to our human body because our stomach has acids and bases. Because they have to digest our food.
  • Acid and bases have reactions with metal because they release hydrogen gas.

FACTS ABOUT WILLOW TREES!!!

Welcome back bloggers,

In our hurumanu 3 (Te Ao Whanui) class we have been reading this article called Uncle Don knows heap of wacky stuff. And we have been studying a piece of things about wetlands. And this time we had to research something on pages 8 to 11.

So we had to choose the topic that we're going to research and my topic is about willow trees. And I made my slide presentation on canva to be more creative.  But first, we had to read the pages 8 to 11 so we get lots of options to research from, but the thing that attracted me was the willow trees because of how it makes a big impact on our water lands.

here is my presentation:
I think that I did pretty well and made it look creative. But I think this was very interesting and enjoyable to do because I learned some facts about willow trees. And this helps me do my presentation on a better site. Also, I think that this is a fun way of researching and presenting.

Hope you enjoyed my blog post make sure to leave a comment(:

WHAT IS A STARFISH?

 Hello bloggers,

It's been a few, welcome back to my blog. In my Hurumanu 1 (Nga Tangata) class we have been reading this wacky story all about the different animals. And the book was written by Uncle don, and it has different facts about different animals. And the cool thing about it is some of the facts are hidden and around the corner of the pages.

So our task was to create a presentation about our animal that we chose to research. And I actually think that I did pretty well and made my slide attractive, with lots of combined colorus. And I think I added an alright amount of facts about my animal that I wanted to study. 'Ohhhhh by the way I researched about starfish'.

So here it is:

And here is the Uncle Don Wacky stories:

What Is An Acid?

Name of the 3 acids that you need to know for year 10:

  1. Hydrochloric Acid
  2. Sulfuric Acid
  3. Nitric Acid
The short way of writing these formulae:
  1. HCl
  2. H2SO4
  3. HNO3
Where do you find acids?
  • Plaque is an Acid on your teeth.
  • Stomach Acid is Hydrochloric Acid.
  • Battery  Acid Is Sulfuric Acid.
  • Lemons and Oranges have Citric Acid.
  • Vinegar contains Acetic Acid.
  • Bee-Stings have formic Acid.
  • Coca-Cola Has Carbonic Acid. (If you drink Coca-Cola it will rot your teeth)
What if you get stung by Bee?
If you get stung by a bee you can put toothpaste on it and it will cancel the sting.

What if you get stung by a wasp?
If you get stung by a Wasp you can pee on it.

What is an Acid?
An Acid contains Hydrogen atoms that break off to react with a substance.

Litmus red paper stayed into the red.
But blue litmus paper changed into red.

Red Cabbage Indicator (Science)

 Aim:

I want to find out how to tell if something is an acid.

Method:

Equipment

  • Beaker
  • Red cabbage
  • Boiling water
  • Dropper
  • Test tubes
  • Different samples for testing
Instructions:
  1. Get your equipment all ready.
  2. Tear the cabbages into small bits, into your beaker.
  3. Add about 100ml of boiling water into the beaker. (Your boiling water needs to take out the colour of the cabbage).
  4. Then wait until the colour of the beaker turns purple.
  5. Then you get your hydrochloric acid and hydroxide.
  6. Then pour your hydrochloric acid and hydroxide into your test tube then add the red cabbage water.
  7. And see what colour it turned out to be.
Result:
Test pH levels with red cabbage - Discovery Express
It made different amazing colours because of the hydroxide and hydrochloride. And if you keep experimenting maybe you'll be able to make more different colours.

Message In A Bottle

 Xin Chao readers,

In the past week, in our wananga class, we have been writing a story lately about a message in a bottle. We were asked to write this story by our teacher.

The writing is about making a story from a image. I had a lot of exciting ideas which made it really fun for me and the picture really helped me. And we also had to add some interesting words.

Here is my writing:

I was wandering around the shining shimmering beach, with lots of seagulls flying and forming a circle.  But suddenly I hesitated because this was the beach where I had lots of memories and something special I did. So I quickly approached the rocky humongous rocks where I wrote the 15 year old me, who is 58 now. I kept looking around intensely but had another idea. I started walking to the cave of the beach which was terribly black pitch and horrifying, but luckily I had a flashlight with me.

Something caught my eyes and it was glaring. I was so excited because it was the same bottle that I wrote from 40 years ago. I was so hype that I screamed and hurt my throat. So then I picked up the bottle but I closed my eyes becauseI knew it was my letter that I wrote. However my hands took the cap off but rather than having paper inside it was just an ordinary paper with nothing on it.

Accordingly I gave up finding the bottle that I wanted, because I am tired. So apart from finding the bottle, I just walked to the shore of the beach to calm myself down and not stress about it. As I was walking around the shore a glass of bottle relectetion my eyes but I rather just leave it alone. But I actually thought really deeply if that was the letter inside the bottle. Since I was so tired I didn’t even try to pick it up. So I continued walking down the beach. For a few seconds later my brain was going anxious because I think that was the special bottle that I wrote 40 years ago. I changed my mind and actually grabbed the bottle. The bottle was actually floating with the letter inside. The letter inside really looks very old as compared to now. It had black marks, but I was still surprised that the letter was still there. But the bottle was still shiny and the bottle cap is mixed with black and brown colours. And the bottle is perfectly green but a little rusty on the bottom. So I took off the cap of the bottle and took out the note. The note said: “ Hello to my future self, I hope you're still alive and having a good life. And I hope you have achieved the goals in your life. And please keep the bottle and the note”. The letter was in bold and fancy letters, at the top it says the date and at the bottom right it says my name.

I just remembered that writing that letter when I was younger was only if I was going to die or someone else who finds it will bring it to me. And I wanted to discover if the things from then change now. And I wondered if the masterpiece inside the green rusty bottle survived from the water. And I was amused that the message and the bottle still stay in the same area where I actually threw it in the ocean, but not exactly in the right stop.

Then I decided to spirit back home as fast as I could because I was so excited. However there was a long bulky branch that came out of nowhere which made me trip dramatically and slow motion fell on the group. And the bottle shattered with sharp fragile glass that spread everywhere and managed to hit one of my forehead.

All of the sudden, I surprisingly woke up out of my bed flat on my stomach and it was just a terrible dream. But all of a sudden I stood up and approached the bathroom and looked at myself. And my face looked horrible and my hair was a mess looking like a person who got electrified. And I got out of the bathroom and saw the green rusty bottle with a cap and the masterpiece message. I didn’t realise that I actually had one of those and actually was displaying it in my bedroom which cost me thousands of dollars.

Making Sherbet

 Aim:

I want to find out how to make sherbet.

Research:

How to make sherbet

Method:

Equipment:
  • Icing Sugar & Raro
  • Cup (Or any other container)
  • Citric Acid or Tartaric Acid
  • Baking Powder
  • Popsicle stick (for steering) or any steering object
  • Teaspoon
Instruction:
  1. Get all of your equipment together.
  2. Add one teaspoon of sugar raro to the cup.
  3. Add half a teaspoon of acid to the cup.
  4. A half a teaspoon of baking powder to the cup.
  5. Mix with the stick.
  6. Taste the sherbet, and adjust the flavour.
Result:
There was no reaction in the cup, but when you mix the ingredients together it changes color.
What happens in your mouth? When I put the sherbet in my mouth it effervescence and bubbles a lot. And it's kinda sour and sweet.

Why did it foam up in my mouth? Because of the citric acid + baking soda and Carbon dioxide gas. Citrid acid + NaCO3 > CO2.

Hi blogger, I have one more task to share with you, but this task is all about design construction which means designing something and crafting them.

So the task was to make a paper air plane and measure the maximum distance. I was pretty happy with my paper air plane because it got up to a whooping 11 metres, which is almost the same of a telephone pole. It was very fun to make them.

Have you ever made a paper air plane?

Here is a video of how to make them:

Youtube - World Record Plane.

It was also interesting on how the plane was folded because I think the crease made the plane glide really far. And it was very interest of how the plane flew, because it wen't really high and slowly glide down.

Hope you enjoyed making the paper plane make sure to leave a comment, to make improvements on my plane.

Paralympics

Kamusta viewers,

For today's blog post I will be sharing you another activity that I've done in my Paralympics work.

The task was to answer all the following question. The questions where very interesting because I need to research and learn about some of the Paralympics sports. And the topic that I picked was related to para sports. it took some time for me because the questions were very interesting because I've never watched Paralympics or know anything about them.

if you were going to compete in Paralympics which sports will you compete in?

Here is my work:

Para Sports

Profile two para sports and include the following:

When was wheelchair basketball introduced?

The Wheelchair basketball paralympics was introduced in 1946 from World War II, for the people who served but wanted to participate in playing basketball.

When was wheelchair fencing introduced?

And wheelchair fencing was introduced in1960  which was developed by Sir Ludwig Guttmann.

How is wheelchair basketball played?

The wheelchair basketball is similar to normal basketball because they include rules that are included in original basketball.  The players are able to stop and push their wheelchair twice. Two teams of five battle against each other and try to shoot the basketball in the hoop.

How is wheelchair fencing played?

The players are seated in a wheelchair and a piece of fencing frame is fixed to the wheelchair. And the players fight only with their upper body. The players sit in a sitting position and close distance fighting which makes the sport very intense.

Special equipment for wheelchair basketball?

The wheelchair basketball is used by a special wheelchair that makes the player have fast movement.

Special equipment for wheelchair fencing?

Wheelchair fencing blade includes parts like foil, epee and sabre. And the wheelchair fencing includes a fencing jacket.

Two interesting facts about wheelchair basketball:

Wheelchair basketball has different roles which have higher or lower points. And people with different abilities are playing a different position. The total sum of players on the court needs to  be 14 or less.

Two interesting facts about wheelchair fencing:

The way the players move and control their swords are necessary. As the players fight in close range the players can win or get a strike in just a split second.

I learned a lot of things in my Paralympics work because I was very interested on how the game works, and how it was different to normal Olympic sport.

Hope you also learned something and enjoyed my blog post, Have a great day.
