Melting ice in foam pieces

 Hello blogger,

Welcome back, in this blog post I will be sharing you an experiment that we did in our science session. And the challenge was to time how long does ice melt on foam piece. There were a lot of options but I picked a different one because I want to see how long it will take.

I was looking forward if the foam piece would melt faster than the other objects but unfortunately, it was actually the slowest, and I didn't even get to finish it because of how long it takes to melt. But I was really shocked about it because I didn't know how long it would take to melt, but I was wondering if I picked up big ice that is why maybe it melt longer.

I tried squeezing the foam and the ice together so that it will melt stronger because we were not allowed to touch the ice with our hands, only the object itself. And also I tried to compact them together but the foam wasn't big enough.

I learned that foams on ice can't actually melt faster which makes sense for me because the foam had little holes in them and how small the pieces were.

Fun Run | 2020

Kia ora,

Welcome back to my blog, in today's blog post I will share you my experience during our fun run for 2020. The fun run is basically having fun and running while doing some obstacles. We had all the students up to year seven to ten, to cooperate in the fun run.

In the fun run, there was powdered colour spraying at you and getting wet with water. There were also sponges getting thrown at you and you can slide through the water slide. There were also obstacles like going in the bouncy castle and ducking under and jumping over last of all there were water guns getting horribly spraying at you.

We had to run, jog or walk two laps around the field to get our reward which is sparkling water. The sparkling water didn't taste good and doesn't have a lack of flavour. So I and my friends decided to pour the sparkling water on each other's head and bodies because we all didn't like the sparkling water. Then we cheered and supported the other students who are participating in the fun run. It was funny because some of the year nines and tens tripped over when running. We had lots of fun doing the fun run I hope we have another opportunity to do the fun run next year.

here are some pictures and videos:
Question of the day: Have you ever done a run similar to this before?

Don't forget to leave a comment and hope you enjoyed my experience during the fun run.

Egg Drop Test

Last week we did something really fun and challenging in our science class, it was something that we cannot wait because we are doing an egg drop challenge. So the challenge was making something that will make the egg survive from a high fall. We were able to work with a partner so I decided to work with my partner that I cooperate together well. And the other challenge was making our structure with sticks, tapes, strings, small pieces of foams, a used plastic bag and rubber bands.

My partner and I didn't have a plan of how we are going to make our structure, but we made a square for our base with foams and stick them with the sticks. Then we measure the egg in our base as if it will fit, which turned out positive. We used the sticks to stick the foams together which is much easier rather than using the tapes. Then used two four rubber bands to make the sticks a bit more stable. And then we grabbed a piece of used plastic bag for our parachute to make the landing softer. Then we attached the string to the parachute and attached it to the sticks. And the last part has too compressed the egg together with foams and tapes.

But then it was the time to drop the egg fro a high place, which is five metres. When my partner dropped our structure it didn't land really soft because there were little holes on parachute therefore it made our structure tilt left and right. But then when I opened the hatch of our structure it was surprisingly safe with no cracks or damaged. And my partner and I were really happy and proud of what we have done.

Here are some pictures and video

Question of the day: What if you had a challenge like this what is your idea?

EARTHQUAKE | 2011

In our Hurumanu class which is our social study class, we have been studying on Earthquakes in New Zealand. Currently, we are focusing on the 2011 Earthquake in the city of Christchurch, have you ever heard of the Cathedral structure in the city of Christchurch.

So we had a taskboard to do and our task was answering the questions and reading some articles and listen to the audiobook. The point was answering all the questions and researching information in-depth so we can get the right answer. My idea for my presentation was answering the questions and adding a lot of information in each slide. And I added some pictures to make my presentation more catchy and creative.

Here is my finished presentation:

E.O.T.C WEEK JELLIE PARK | TASKBOARD

 Hello bloggers,

Welcome back to my blog in this blog post I will share you my finished work of the Jellie park taskboard. (This is not my Jellie park experience it's just the taskboard we have to do). There fore next week on Wednesday, 3rd of December which means our class is going to Jellie park for our EOTC week.

Basically, our task for the Jellie park taskboard is to make a poster and write eight safety tips on water. But what I did is different because I have four safety tips on swimming pool and in the ocean. I also added some pictures of the different safety signs.

Here is my finished work:

Question of the day: what is the best advice will you give to a person when swimming in the pool?

Science | Gravity

In our Science session, we have been focusing on gravity and how it affects the different planets.

So our tasks were to answer the following questions about gravity. We had to research in-depth to get the answers. It was a challenge because we had to be specific about what we are researching.  But it was interesting about researching gravity and how it affects life and other planets. Because I always imagined that one day I will fly to space and experience gravity. The fun part was when we had to compare our weights on different planets.

I really like learning about gravity and researching it was fun to do to this task because I always learn something new.

Here is my gravity work:
  1. Is gravity the same on all planets? No, because every planet has different sizes and amounts of gravity. It’s because the planets are of different sizes from one another and have a different mass.

  2. How is gravity related to mass? The reason why gravity is related to mass it’s because of the distance of a planet one to another. When the planet is closer to each other the gravity pulls down stronger.  Therefore if the mass has more objects it means it has more gravity. And the mass gives pieces called gravitons and they are the ones who prevent gravity. So when there is more mass the more gravitons it has.

  3. Calculate the weight of a 30kg labrador retriever on other planets in our solar system? If you weigh 30kg on Earth you will weigh 11kg in Mercury, 27kg in Venus, 11kg in Mars, 70kg in Jupiter, 31kg in Saturn, 26kg in Uranus, and 33kg in Neptune. Jupiter has the highest gravity and Mercury and Mars have the lower gravity.  It’s very interesting to see every planet has different weights of the 30kg Retriever.

  4. How will your life be different from living on a planet with higher gravity? Lower gravity? If the gravity is higher than before human blood will be stretching to our legs, every bone will collapse and get pulled to the ground and get stuck. If the gravity was lower the atmosphere would feel lighter. It will reduce the gravity and make it difficult for humans to breathe the exact amount of oxygen. And Earth would collapse apart and explode into pieces and float around space if the gravity is lower. The reason why gravity is necessary to planets and the Earth is that it holds the planet together.

The site that I used to calculate the 30kg Labrador Retriever was pretty handy because it's very fun to use. Here is the website that I used: Weight on other planets.

Question of the day: Which planet would you like to visit and live in? Why? Why not?

I hope you learned something new and enjoyed my blog post make sure to leave a comment.

How To Navigate Using The Stars!

In our science class, we have been working on explanation writing and have been working on not to plagiarise (Not copy and pasting). So our topic was to explain how Stars can be used to navigate.

So our challenge is to explain how the first Seafarers navigate the ocean using the Stars, and how navigators navigate using the Stars. We really had to be careful not to plagiarise when reading an article, because it can cause us in big, big trouble, like going to jail or the court. We also had been practising this because when we go to University we are not allowed to copy an article. Our challenge was to add a lot of paragraphs to our explanation writing and explain how navigators navigate using the Stars. And we had to put the conclusion at the end and a summary. And we need to remember to add a title and a rhetorical question.

It was very fun and challenge to write our explanation writing because we had to put sentences to our own words. I really like this session because I learned something new too. But I felt really proud because I completed my work and put sentences in my own words.

Here is my work:

How to locate the ocean using the Stars.

How did the Navigators navigate the oceans by using the stars?

I'm going to tell you how navigators navigate the ocean using the Stars. And I will explain how Stars can be used to navigate Space. The purpose of this explanation is to tell you how navigators used their own knowledge to navigate the ocean using the Stars. Also how important and special the Stars are to navigate different things.

So first let  me explain to you the constellation, there are 6 different constellations and they are Ursa Major, Ursa Minor. Cassiopeia, Orion, Crux and Centaurus. The constellations have descriptions and are different, therefore it has different hemispheres and they are the Northern hemisphere and the Southern hemisphere. The Ursa Major is described as a big dipper it is commonly found in the northern hemisphere, Ursa Minor describes as little dipper and it’s in the Northern hemisphere, Orion can be found in the Northern Hemisphere and it is describe as a Hunter, Crux describes as a Cross and it’s easily found in the southern hemisphere and the Centaurus can be located in the Southern Hemisphere which describes as a Centaur.

Now let me inform you how the navigators find their way to navigate the ocean using the Stars. So the navigators directed their canoes to the sparkly beautiful star on the horizon and used a star compass. Then when the star increased up to the sky, that’s when the navigators chose a different star. And then they do those steps continuously as the night goes on. Navigators navigate the stars throughout the night and stop until they navigate twelve Stars. There were things that also helped them to navigate the ocean and it was the Moon, Jupiter and Venus. And then the navigators wrote the spot of where the Canoe is between the sun. And the navigators glanced and focused on the sun to its destination in the evening.

Now let me teach you how the Stars can be used to navigate. But first I will teach you how you can navigate using the Stars in the northern hemisphere. To start with you have to find the North Star/Polaris. It’s a special and an important Star because it’s the only Star that doesn’t even move, while the rest of the Stars move around it. To find the North Star you have to find the Ursa Minor or the Little dipper. The North Star/Polaris is placed on the tip of the handle of the Ursa Minor. But if it’s too difficult for you to find Ursa Minor you could look for the Ursa Major which is called the Big dipper. If you found the Big dipper you could use its two Stars at the end, they are called the Dubhe and Merak. And then direct it to the North Star/Polaris. If there are objects interfering with the North Star and the little dipper you could always remember that the distance between Dubhe and Merak is 5 lengths long to the North Star.

Now let me tell you how you can navigate using the Stars in the Southern hemisphere. First of all the Southern hemisphere doesn’t have the North Star which you have to find the Southern Cross/Crux. If you're having difficulty to find the Crux then you should find the two bright stars beside the Crux, they are the pointer Stars. The pointer Stars will help you alot and should lead straight to the Crux. After you’ve done those steps you could now draw a straight line where the tip of the Crux is pointing. And between the pointer Stars you should measure the line properly, going down in the same direction as the Crux. And then use the two lines straight down to the horizon, and now it should be pointing at the South.

I hope you learned something new and got information about navigating using the Stars. Hopefully by now you should be able to have the information of how the first seafarers navigate the ocean using their vision and the Stars. And if you want to navigate the northern hemisphere the key is to find the North Star/Polaris. But if you live in the Southern Hemisphere you need to locate the Crux to navigate the Southern hemisphere.

Questiong of the day: What was your favourite part about my explanation writing?

Hope you enjoy it and learned something new, down forget to leave a comment.

Types Of Communication | Hur 3

Hello readers, In our Science class with a different teacher, we have been learning on explanation writing. And the explanation writing is about communication in life and in space.

The challenge was to research all the following five-question and answer them. And make a presentation for the answers. I had to go to different websites to know the answers because all the question were interesting. The questions were :

What are some ways to communicate? (Pick 3)

How do these forms of communication work, what do they rely on or use?

Why can nobody hear you shout in space?

Is radio communication instant?

What does this mean for space mission from Earth to Mars?

I did my presentation on renderforest because it was easy to use, but there was some technical difficulty. I only answered the first questions and had three communication explanation. Because the Renderforest has a limit of how much slides I can put in and how much words I can add. Each slide had a limit of how much words you can put it. So I hope you can understand each slide. But the rest of the questions I put them in my google docs. I really had a hard time making the presentation but I had fun researching the questions and answering them.

I hope you can enjoy my presentation and can understand it, so here it is:

How does these forms of communication work?

The forms of communication pass through sources and the receiver. It transfers the understanding and the information from one person to another person to communicate. They are made up of four key components to process communication. They are encoding, medium of transmission, decoding and feedback. That’s how the sender and the receiver communicate.

Why can nobody hear you shout in space?

Nobody can hear you shout in space because the sound waves are carried by air molecules hitting each other and the microphone. So the little pressure drops are the purpose of carrying the sounds. If the molecules decrease and hit the microphone they hear a quieter communication. In space there is no air so you can’t shout in space, that’s why the sound can’t travel to one and another.

Is the radio communication instant?

Radio communication travels very quickly in space, they are electromagnetic radiation, they travel at the speed of the light. The speed of the light is approximately 300,000 kilometres per seconds. The radio receives radio waves and turns them into speakers and creates sound waves. There are two types of radio communication : AM (amplitude modulation) and FM (frequency modulation). The other radio is a technology that allows one another to keep contact with. The radio receiver gets the audio and data sent over to the radio waves.

What does this mean for a space mission from Earth to Mars?

When travelling from Earth to Mars it would take about 21 months. To get to Mars it would take about 9 months and stay in Mars for 3 months and come back to Earth. There are three steps of travelling to Mars from Earth which take a very long time, so you have to be patient. Earth and Mars orbit are not in perfect circles, Astronauts can travel from Earth to Mars when the orbits are at the same distance. It needs to be at the right timing or otherwise the rocket ship won’t be successful to get to Mars. You really need a lot of fuel to travel to Mars from Earth.

Question of the day: What is the best website to do your presentation?

Hope you enjoyed my blog post please don't hesitate to comment.

Navigation in space | Challenge

Welcome back bloggers, In today's blog post I will be sharing you the finished work that I have been working on in Science. It has been fun in the science room during this term, we had been doing fun stuff and learning a lot.

So our topic is about navigation in space. Our challenge is to answer all the following question that our Science teacher put for us to answer. So we had to research deeply and in a detailed way so that we know the answer to each question. We had five questions to answer and a bonus one about the Black Hole. And we can answer the questions in a slide or straight in the blog post. I prefer to answer the questions in a slide so I can add some details to it. It was so fun to answer all the questions and complete the challenge. I felt really proud of myself because I answered all the questions and presented it on the slide, and published it on my blog.

Hope you enjoy my presentation, so here it is the link to my slideshow:

Knowledge about | Gold mining & Discrimination

Hello viewers, in this blog post I will do one of my reading tasks. My reading task is to share all the things I know about gold mining. This is my own opinion about gold mining and discrimination, I don't know what gold mining and discrimination really mean, so I will try my best.

Next week I will make a blog post of what I learned about gold mining and discrimination. I will share you all my knowledge and what they actually mean.

The things I know about gold mining is:

  • Miners use tools to dig a private underground that goes through another country or somewhere. Miners also use special tools to get through the walls.
  • I think Miner's objective is to find as many golds as they can and then deliver it to their company and sell them. Or they can trade it with something that is the same amount of cost as a gold.
  • If there are stream with water somewhere in an underground gold mining, they use a scooper and tries to get golds. And then they wash it off with clean water and use their eyes if there is any gold.
  • Gold miners maybe also can find a way to get to their company just by going back and forth. Or they can just build their own space to put all their tools and stuff in it.
Now I am going to talk about discrimination and what the things I know about discrimination.
  • My opinion about discrimination Is racism about people being racist to our or their society.
  • Discrimination is maybe also how racist people talk about other colour skins and which culture they came from.
Question of the day:
What does discrimination mean and why is it so important?

Hope you enjoyed my blog post about my knowledge about gold mining and discrimination, make sure to leave a comment.

Needs VS Want

In our healthy lifestyle session, we have been learning about the best decision/choice to make. So we have been comparing against need and want. The difference between the two of them is need is really important but want is the things that are not important but like. So we made a presentation to give the examples of need vs want also we had to write the definition of both of them. We had different websites to present our work so that is creative.

It was really fun to do this task in our healthy lifestyle session because sometimes this work can give tips to our lives. I am very proud of myself because I completed my work and the definition of both of them. But the really hard part was when I think of ideas the differences of one another, especially the things you need.

Here is my completed work:

Question of the day: Why are need and want different?

Daylight | Saving

Welcome back bloggers for our homeroom session today we have been doing some researching. Our topic for today is daylight saving. Would you like to continue daylight saving or not? I want daylight saving to stop because in my country the day is very long. So we did some research about daylight saving in New Zealand. We really had to research information about daylight saving in New Zealand. We had to make our work in full sentences so there is a bit of a challenge.

Here is my completed work:

When does Daylight Saving happen each year in New Zealand?
Each year daylight saving happens in New Zealand every last Sunday in September.

What year did it start in NZ?
The first daylight saving in New Zealand was in 1927.
Why was Daylight Saving started? Write at least 2 sentences to answer this question.
Daylight saving started by Thomas Sidey he decided to move the clocks one hour forward in New Zealand. So the summer period allows for an extra hour of daylight in the evenings.

I want daylight savings to be eliminated because some people work at night like farmers etc. It would be hard for them to see and to do their job. It would be really helpful to people with jobs that work at night when it’s dark. And we could have more time to sleep, spend time with families and play outside. I want to stop it because I want more daylight and time. It would be cool if we had an extra hour in a day so it would be a much easier and enjoyable day. I really don’t like having a quick and unhappy day.

Do all the states in Australia have Daylight Saving? Who does and who doesn’t?
Yes some Australia states have daylight saving like South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, the Australian Capital Territory and Norfolk Island. And the states that don't have daylight saving are Queensland, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Christmas Island or Cocos Island.

Write 3 tips to help others adjust to Daylight Saving this weekend.
Tips to adjust daylight saving
Get some sunlight.
Get some sleep a few minutes early.
Keep an exercise schedule and keep drinking water.

Marketing Day | 2020

So for the past few weeks, we have been starting on our business enterprise. This basically means you make a company and make products then sell them. And the market day is when you buy the product from other companies. The fun part about marketing day was when my group successfully made our products and sell them to people. It felt really amazing because we achieve something really hard to do as a group. The things that we should change for our company was making the posters more eye-catchy to people and having a better table to put all our products on.

My group made cushions for car seats, chairs and for cuddling. We made the cushion it with squishy foam and some old curtains, fabrics and old shirts. We used the sewing machine so it's much easier to make our products. Our company name was Super Cuddles. We had the different size of cushions there was small, medium, large and hotdog pillows. The small cost $3.00, medium $4.00, Large $5.00 and hotdog pillow $6.00. When the marketing day was almost over we made our prices cheaper so people could buy more of our products.

The money that we borrowed was $10.75 and the profit that we made at marketing day was $68.00. The total profit we made was $58.00. We didn't expect to make this much money because we thought people won't buy our cushion because nobody would like it but people were actually buying it and liking it. I was proud of my group because of how much money we made and how we helped each other. Our team worked really well together and gets the job done easily.

This was the first time I've experienced the market day and it was full of joy and fun. Other companies were very amazing because they had lots of talents and were very kind. It was very successful and loved how much money we got and how my teamwork.

Question of the day: If you had a business enterprise what products would you make (Why)?

Hope you enjoyed my blog post and make sure to not hesitate to comment!!!

Villain vs Hero | & Art work |

In our Hurumanu 4 (Writing) we have been writing a story and doing some artwork. Our topic for our story is a Villain vs Hero. And for our artwork, we had to draw at least 2 pictures which were our setting and one of our characters.

W.A.L.T: write a narrative based on heroes and villains.

Our first step was to create our plan so we have guidance to our writing and get ideas from it. After we completed our ideas in the slides and was checked by the teacher we could start our writing. For my writing, the things that I could do better was adding the five senses and making it more a bit spooky. The things that I did good and was proud of my writing was having a lot and outstanding descriptive writing. And I'm also proud of my vocabulary so that I can make it more interesting.

After we finished our writing we moved on to our drawing. Which was to draw at least one of the setting and the villain or the hero. I drew my villain instead of my hero because it has more detail and looks scarier. I also drew my setting which was the abandoned car park. The things that I could've done better on my settings was making the drawing look realistic and making the shade more professional.

Here are my writing & my drawings:

It was a beautiful day and I caught something from a distance across the road. It was two buildings going parallel leading somewhere far. It’s very peaceful and silent like a library. There were plenty of people eating and enjoying their food at the restaurant, the restaurant smells mouthwatering because of all the food that they make. Then I took action and got closer but when I got closer there were dreadful illegal sprays on the walls and litter on the ground.

Suddenly, I caught from the corner of my eye a suspicious guy who looked very frightening and was doing something mysterious. Everybody was getting distracted and made eye contact with him. He was stomping as he walked through the alleyway, not even minding, he had big bulky biceps and whenever he moved his muscles were crumbling. He’s wearing a ripped shirt that looks very old and that came from the dumpster. His teeth were sharp and looked stronger than metal, his long intimidating fingernails are ready to attack and scratch people. His caruncle eyes were vivid red and looked very exhausted, he has funny, fatty, foolish, feathered,  furrowed eyebrows.  His clothes were full of blood that is very disgusting and slimy, his tongue is lengthy and the tip of it is very pointy. He has a smirky smile that is not fascinating, his arms are full of hair and his legs and feet are massive.

Suddenly he swerved remarkably and made people run away as fast as they can. The people were shouting and screaming crazy like they were running for their lives. The Villain was demolishing every building that gets in his way and doesn’t even mind what he is doing. He was murdering all the people that were in the alleyway; it looked like he was playing with toys. He robbed all the shops and stole all the money that was in the alleyway. Then I became irritated because he destroyed one of the famous delicious restaurants in the city. The buildings were falling apart and dancing as they were getting destroyed. There was a flooded bloodstream going down the alleyway slowly.

After all the action happened in the alleyway, humongous groups of polices, ambulance and firetrucks were at the Alleyway. The Alleyway became abandoned and nobody could penetrate through it. It had barricades and caution signs around the destroyed buildings. The buildings looked very secure and are painted black like it’s invisible, It looked very haunted. Whenever people try to go in it they could die because of all the dead people which cause disease and viruses. They could also get trapped because when they try to escape the virus and the disease will spread from just a split second.

After he took over the alleyway and did what he wanted he sprinted back to his base just for a split second. I followed him sneakily by tracking the blood dripping down his shirt. His base looks like an abandoned car park building. When I entered the building it felt very cold and abandoned, it remained very terrifying, strange and silent. The building had thick columns that have paint scraped on them. The old metal parts had fallen apart and were exposed to different directions. The old awful rusty handlebars are almost about to break and fall apart. There were heavy fragile concrete barriers that were made from cobblestone and the concrete were collapsing like zig-zag cracks. There was plenty of dust everywhere on the surface and on the air floating. There were big puddles on the ground because of the water dripping down from the pipes.

After I described what his base looked like in my head I began to take action. I was walking around his base then I unexpectedly saw him. He is sitting down at the corner of the building and looking at the amounts of money that he robbed. Then I quickly decided to dash towards the villain like the speed of a train travelling. But before I got to him he knew that I was in the building so the villain got a hostage to protect himself. I tried to attack him but I decided that I am kind so I tried to trick the Villain to get the hostile out of danger, but it didn’t work. So I had another trick in my mind which was to communicate with the Villain politely. Freakingly it worked so he pushed the hostage to me almost falling but luckily I caught the villain and told him “Run away from this place as fast as you can”.

I grabbed a piece of a long old rusty metal bar and teleported towards him. I hit him with the metal bar on the back of his head and tried to kill him. But it didn’t even penetrate through him. It felt like a tickle to the villain. I threw a kick on his face like the weight of the train ‘that one hurt him but still not dead’. I did a massive impact on his stomach with my fist and was still not dead. So I decided to use one of my powers which were punching him on the stomach rapidly just like a punching bag. His stomach was bouncing and giggling around as I punched him rapidly with my fast furious fists, seconds later he fell on the ground and gave up.

I tried to help him but he was mumbling to me, I couldn’t understand him so I ignored it and helped him to get up. He bends on his knees and begs for forgiveness. The Villain said all the things that he did wrong and finally knew what he did wrong. The villain kept begging and trying to convince forgiveness. Shockingly the villain said to kill him but I was kind enough and said “NO”.   He repeated that for three times but I still declined it. So I commanded him to stand up and we can be friends together. So the villain stood up and said ‘okay’. He keeps saying “thank you” to me a lot of times. Then we both said, “LET US BE FRIENDs FOREVER AND SAVE THE WORLD”.

Hope you enjoyed my writing and my drawing please do not hesitate to comment.

Question of the day: Do you like drawing a villain or a hero?

My video | of my script |

 Hello bloggers,

Welcome back to my blog. In today's blog, I will be sharing you my video of my script. So my script is about a basketball player and doesn't like hearing therapy.

To make it easier to do my speech I highlighted the words that I need to be loud and have an expression to it.

This task was very fun for me but challenging at the same time because I don't really like to act out and show my voice, I also don't like me hearing my voice cause I don't really like my voice. But when I completed it I felt proud of myself and being happy to commit that challenge that I don't usually do.

Here is the link for my speech:

Hope you enjoyed my video of my speech and love it!!!

Question the day: Do you guys like therapy do you like hearing it or reading it?

A descriptive paragraph about my monologue!!!

In our drama session, we have been working on our monologue to represent and make a video or act it out. So now our task was to make a descriptive paragraph about our monologue.

Here is my descriptive paragraph about my monologue:
I am a basketball player and my name is Shaquille Curry people kept saying that I need therapy about basketball but I don't need it and want it. I act very tall and tough and having a serious face. I am very frustrated when I am really stressed. I am from NBA and a superstar. I live in L.A. My voice sounds like an old man that is very deep. My Mum and Sister said I need therapy but they don't actually get it. I complain to mean people and a person that waste my time. I am really fit and very strategic but gets angry. I march my arm as I walk but only when I'm alone. I really hate therapy and I don't like it or listen to it.

Hope you enjoyed my descriptive paragraph about my monologue.

Question of the day: What kind of topic would you pick if you make a monologue.

The Diary of Anne Frank

In our Homeroom class, we have been reading a book called Anne Frank, she is 13 years old and a Jewish girl that lived in the war. The war started in 1939 and ended in 1945. Anne Frank is Jewish and Hitler doesn't like Jewish people because he imagined something in his head what he wanted to kill and he wanted to take over Europe. And Anne Frank is hiding from Hitler because Margot received a call-up from the Labour camp but their parents realise that it was doing work, that's why they went into hiding in a secret Annex. But there are two families living in the secrete Annex so it's a bit crowded and there had been bad relationships. Anne and Mrs Van Daan had a bad relationship because of how Mrs Van Daan acts with Anne. And Anne has a bad relationship with her Mum because Anne didn't like to share her prayers with her Mum. Anne Frank was scared of the Aircraft and the gunshot going on at night in her Dad's bedroom. But in their hiding, they didn't have a lot of food to eat. And Anne Frank's family is pretty poor. There were so many problems going on in Anne Franks diary.

What I learned:

  • I learned that Hitler hated the Jewish people and how he wants to take over the world.
  • Jewish people don't celebrate Christmas instead they celebrate Hanukkah.
  • How in the olden days they get a booklet that tells them how much they can only buy.
  • How awful the war was and how awful was Hitler to the Jewish.
  • How awful the Jewish lived and what difficult things they need to do.
  • Hitler was imagining to kill people that have blond hair and blue eyes.

Question of the day: What would you do if you were Jewish and got called up to a labour camp?

Hurumanu 2 | Speech |

Kamusta bloggers,

In our Hurumanu 2 class, we have been making our own speeches and this class is for drama and reading. So our task was to research anything we want and make a speech about it. In our speech, we needed to introduce ourselves, what we are talking about, a conclusion and a rhetorical question. We needed to video ourselves with our speech and it needed to be at least one minutes and thirty minutes long.

My speech is about the history of the Bible because I loved God and I want to know how the Bible exists and who made it.

I really enjoyed this task because it was really fun to research and I learnt a whole lot of things about the Bible.

Here is my video/speech:

Hi, my name is Shadrach and I'm going to tell you the history of the Bible. I chose this topic because I love God and I really want to know the history of the Bible.

So  I will talk about what is a Bible, who created the Bible when it was created, how the Bible came to life and where it is now and the New Testament and the Old Testament.

First, let's talk about What is a Bible? A Bible is the words of God and it serves us,  guides to ourselves and to peoples. It includes the Christian scriptures old testament and the new testament. The Bible tells us the history of the Earth to spread Christianity. The Bible was about letting people around the world learn about the words of God. Bible was the holy scriptures of the Christianity religion to intend and tell the history of the Earth from it’s earliest creations.

Second, let’s talk about Who created the Bible and when was it created? The first five books were Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. And it was written by Moses in the 1,300 (Before Christianity). The bible was written forty years after Jesus' death. The dedicated scriptures of the Jewish faith were written at different times in the middle of 1200 and 160 before Christianity.  The bible was about 2700 years old according to Genesis which was the first bible that was written. The bible was first written in the early centuries and was written down in an ancient form of Hebrew. The bible originally came from Hebrew in the 6th century which was the old testament. The bible was developed when Hezekiah and Judah were ruling a temple in the 8th centuries.

Third, let’s talk about How did the Bible come to life and where is it now?

Archaeology and the study writers helped the historians paint a picture of how the Bible came to life. The oldest copy of the bible is in the Vatican Library and the bible looks like from the early 4th-century parchment book.

Last, of all let's talk about the New Testament and the Old Testament

The New Testament is representing the story of Jesus' life and death in the early days of Christianity, between God and the followers of Christ. And the Old Testament includes a variety of different writings. The old testament forms the results of the Royal scribes. The Old Testament was the original section of the Bible getting the creation of the Earth through Noah and the flood and More.

So now you know the history of the Bible and know the important information about the Bible. I hope you loved my speech and the information that I told you about the Bible. Do you like the Bible? Would it be interesting? So why don’t you start reading the Bible?

Aggressive to Assertiveness |

Today in wananga time we have been talking about aggressiveness and assertiveness. Basically, we had to pick a partner and tell them a story of you being aggressive or someone being aggressive to you and tell them how you or them act. One of the stories that I told my partner was when I was being aggressive to my brother when my mum told one of us to do a favour. When I said that it actually made me sad because he didn't say anything and maybe next time I should've said it more politely.

Then we discussed how we can calm our selves down from the situation. There were two things that made me act more politely on the whiteboard which was to act sarcastic/smile when they are acting aggressive or stop and think before what I say. This made me regret all the words that I said aggressively to people.

Here are some examples:

Question of the day: What would you do when someone is acting aggressive to you?

Burger recipe | Cooking |

 Howdy bloggers,

Welcome back to my blog. In this blog post, I will share you what we have been doing in our cooking lesson. So this term we have been doing the cooking as our tech, basically every Thursday to Friday we have a tech lesson.

So our was to make a burger for each of us in our group. Step one we discuss all the ingredients that we need and get all the types of equipment that we needed. And then we mixed all our ingredients into a bowl to make the patties. After that, we leave the patties for one day and come back for it tomorrow. And the last part for that day was to tick all the ingredients for our burgers. So after we came back for the patties we press it first to get out all the moisture. After that, we put them in the oven for 25 minutes roughly. When we were waiting for that we sliced our bun in half. Then we put sauce on the bottom of the bun, not the curved side. Then the patties were cooked and we put the patties on our bun, we placed all the ingredients that we want for our burgers on our buns. Last, of all, we served it on a small plate, and it was ready to eat.

It tasted so delicious may be better than other fast food because of the patties had different flavours on it. The texture of the patties was hard on the outside but soft when you bite into it. The Burger looked buff because of all the toppings we put on our burgers.

here is the recipe if you want to make your own:

Wananga| Deep Compliments

Hello readers,

Welcome back to my blog. In this blog post, I will share to you about what we have been doing in Wananga.

So we were focusing on giving people deep compliments, not surface compliments. A deep compliment is about their personality and a surface compliment is their appearance.

So our task was to decorate our piece of paper and do whatever we want. We needed to write deep compliments to each student that makes them feel loved. And they had to write deep compliments on our work. When I was reading the compliments that each student wrote on my work it made me feel astonished, loved and joyful because of how they think about me and what my personality was, It really made me feel amazed about myself.

When I was writing my deep compliments to each student I was so excited and think about being appreciated. "It was very fun writing deep compliments to each other".

Here is my work with deep compliments:

(By the way, this is not finished yet)

Hope you enjoyed reading my blogpost, make sure to leave a comment.

Question of the day: What kind of compliments do you like sharing to people: surface or deep compliments?

Drama (Manologue)

Hello bloggers,

Welcome back to my blog. In this blog post, I will show you what we have been doing in Drama.

So in today session, I will be showing you my monologue that I picked. This monologue is about basketball therapy and I picked this because I like basketball and it's my favourite sport.

 Here is my Monologue:

I don't need therapy! I don't need to be here. I'm not insane, I'm Linsane. As in I've got "a condition" called Linsanity! And anyone in their right mind who has seen point guard Jeremy Lin do his thing on the basketball court would have it too!
That's what my mom and sister don't get. That's why they wanted me to come talk to you. But I don't need to be here. I'm only here because my mom caught me talking about Jeremy Lin at my father's wake.

Please don't forget to leave a comment on my blog and make sure it is positive, helpful and thoughtful.

Question of the day:
What kind of monologue do you like/like reading?

Speaking my Truth (Drama)

Hello bloggers,

Welcome back to my blog. In this blog post, I will tell you what we did in our drama subject for year 7 and 8 class. We call it speaking my truth.

First, we played copy the circle, we did this to act out and express the actions. Basically, the game works by picking a leader for doing the actions and choose a person who will guess who the leader is. The second game we played is 7 up, it's about to express our actions and be confident doing it. It's an easy game to play it's just when you say the number seven you are out. The third game that I enjoyed was the statue, this game is about action and stillness. It's a fun game to play you just need to pick a stance to freeze for a long time and you need a person who will be it and if they see you move you're out. The last one is tequila, It's about listening and actions. The game works when someone says Tequila you have to move any direction you want.

Question of the day:
What do you think the best game to play and why?

Hope you enjoyed my blog post and be sure to comment also "have a good day".

Japanese (Calligraphy)

Hello bloggers,

Welcome back to my blog. In this blog post, I will show you what we have been doing today in Japanese. So our teacher wanted us to try calligraphy. Calligraphy is from Japanese and it is written with a paintbrush and a piece of paper.

Our teacher showed us a video on how to do it. He gave us a paper, paintbrush and an ink o write with. He also already setup newspaper so it won't leave a mess on the tables which were pretty caring to the environment. So we got started we had some examples on the board for writing them down on the paper. I wrote my name which was pretty important and I was satisfied with it. I really enjoyed doing Calligraphy with our Japanese teacher because he is always kind and always there for help.

here is my work:
The word on the top is how to write my name in Kanji and the bottom was peace.

It was really enjoyable to do this and I really had fun I also want to do this again.

Please make sure to leave a comment and don't forget to have a great day.

Question of the day: Have you done this before? (Tell me how it went)

Japanese delicious (Rice Ball)

Hello readers,

In Japanese, we have been doing something fun and super amazing because it's almost the end of the term. My (Amazing teacher) decided to make Japanese rice balls. The first step we took was to wash our hands to make sure our hands are clean (besides not getting bacterias). The second step was to grab a good size amount of glad wrap and place it on the table. The third step, grab rice already mixed with powder. We needed glad wrap so that the rice won't stick to our hands. The fourth step was to round any shape you want with the rice in the glad wrap. The second to last steps was to get the rice out of the glad wrap and gently place the rice on the seaweed wrap. Our final step was to put mayonnaise and soy sauce on our rice. We were not allowed to put a lot of mayonnaise and soy sauce because it will make the seaweed soggy.

Actually, Our first step was to pray and our last step was to pray to have some respect.

It tasted so delicious and I was satisfied because it made me full. I wasn't too happy about my shape so I just flattened my rice ball. But I wasn't worried because it was still good. I just want to say thank you to our Japanese teacher who was awesome.

Ingredients:

  • Soy sauce
  • Mayonnaise
  • Powder
  • Seaweed
  • rice
  • glad wrap

Social media and body image!

Hello bloggers,

Welcome back to my blog. In health, we are learning about social media and body image.

One thing that I learnt was people making their photos fake by: Fixing their hairs, adding makeup, making their skin look smooth, making their background and photos eye Cathy and having good angles for their picture. Another thing that I learnt was it was unfair for people because sometimes they want to trick them and gives them money. Another thing is making people jealous about how they look.

Here are some examples of fake pictures on social media:
